Things I’m loving right now:
Starbucks non fat pumpkin spice lattes
Homemade shortbread
Homemade 60 pepper hummus on Cracked Black Pepper and Olive Oil Triscuits.
The IPod I won and gave to WG to preserve my sanity
My new boots
My Gap Flirt jeans with just enough give for the aforementioned shortbread and lattes
Things that I could live without right now:
Self absorbed 18 year old boys who were raised better.
The Jonas Brothers – see aforementioned Ipod in love list.
The extra 5 pounds I’ve packed on in the last 3 weeks – damn shortbread.
School assignments.
The pilfering of my make up bag by a teen that shall remain nameless- WG!!
The -21C wind chills when winter doesn’t arrive till December 21st.
What’s on your love / not so much lists these days?

I’m loving the fact that the girls only have eight more days of school after today.
I’m loving that I’m essentially DONE with my shopping.
I am not loving a few things about my builder right now.
Nor am I loving my ass and how big it is.

Loving:
Huge mug of tea to wake me up in my Christmas-y mug.
My little tree with its shining lights.
Wearing scarves.
Holiday music on my iPod.
The anticipation of baking cookies with my nephew this weekend.
My new hair color.
On line shopping.
Live without:
Tenants who want me to control the universe.
The gym (though I WILL GO damn it).
Family weirdness.
A boyfriend who is unemployed and depressed (I don’t know how to help him).

Loving:
Christmas music. The listening to and the singing along with
How excited the girls are about Christmas
home made turkey chili
hot chocolate after toboganning
my new SNOW TIRES!!! Heinously expensive, yet worth every penny
the fact that I’m going in for a haircut and colour this evening at the salon
Not Loving So Much:
asshole drivers who won’t slow down due to weather conditions
the fact that a looming transit strike is going to result in even more asshole drivers on the road in the coming weeks
the time it takes the girls to get into snow pants, snow jackets, scarves, mitts, hats when we are already behind schedule in the mornings
today’s forecast that calls for freezing rain to cap off the 10 to 15 cm of snow

LOVE
Snow, snow and more snow
Child labour, and that the child-units argue, outside, about who gets to shovel the snow
That I survived school report card day
Ah, er, Weigh Watchers and that it’s helped me find success in a place I’ve had a lot of difficulties (halfway there to my end goal so far)
How good my bed feels at the end of the day
That CU-4 will be getting potty-trained sooner then later
NOT LOVING
Looming bus strike and the 40 minute + walk to work
Drs. appointment for CU-1 with his father and possibly his chum present
Feeling so very tired at the end of the day
Not having wrapped all the Christmas gifts that should have been shipped by now
My grey hairs that are showing up, and knowing my hair cut is about four weeks away

Rereading my previous comment makes me appear insensitive about those massively inconvienienced by the bus strike this a.m. I’m not. I didn’t mean to imply that those who usually ride the bus but will now be driving are all bad drivers. I was just railing about bad drivers in general and the fact that with more drivers on the road, it’s bound to get worse.
My new “not so much” list includes the transit union, who decided to stage a strike 2 weeks before Christmas, disrupting the lives of people trying to get to work, medical appointments, school, Christmas shopping, etc. They suck.

“They” being the union leadership.

Alison, from my side of the monitor, I took the reference about a-hole drivers just the way you meant it the first time. And you’re right.
And tomorrow I get to walk to work! The whole hour one way and an hour and half or more back (picking up kids along the way). Oh youpie and yahoo!

I have two daughters who are teenagers and one on the way up. Resign yourself to sharing the makeup bag, and hide the really good stuff somewhere else. Same goes with clothes, shoes and costume jewelry. And take it as a sign that you are truly “hers.”
