Q & A

I know it seems like I fell off the face of the Earth (especially after 3 posts in one day) but honest I didn’t.  Here’s a little question and answer period to clear up a few things.  The questions may have been asked by friends, family, internet friends or my rational self.

Q:        Why are you crying at work?

A:        That needs to be answered in several parts:

1.      Someone called me stupid and useless on a conference call with 90 other people.

2.      Said person has been riding my ass for weeks now and making my life difficult because said person can not do their job properly.

3.      My step monster is an evil, vile woman who seems to have the uncanny ability to call when I’m most vulnerable and push all my buttons in 2 minutes flat.

4.      The Halton Public School Board is out to make WB’s last year a memorable one for the number of times I have to call and give someone shit.

5.      It’s that time of the month for the third time in 6 weeks.  I really need to get that checked out.

6.      I had to remove my Dad from the Emergency Contact list for WB.  I know, lame.

Q:        What happened with TELUS?

A:        After numerous phone calls, emails and faxes, they admit to nothing.  My credit “suddenly” appeared on my e.Bill.  I demanded a letter of apology and compensation for the time I had wasted.  The letter is to be mailed to me (we’ll see) and I received 2 months free service.  I am satisfied but have gone back to paper bills and will go thru those with a fine tooth comb.

Q:        How does the big guy like school?

A:        Other than the social aspect, he’s counting the days till University.  He is bored with what they are teaching and this is something we come up against every year.  WB reads.  A lot.  Watches CNN and Anderson Cooper religiously.  I need to stay on him to keep him focused.  Even skating thru assignments, he pulls a 90 – so I am not complaining – but he needs to really focus this year.  Oh, and for those interested, his courses this semester are:  Advanced Functions at a University level, Calculus, English and Chemistry.  If he didn’t look like me…..

Q:        How are you? (And I get this one a lot, usually with a head tilt)

A:        Honestly?  Good days, bad days.  I have days where I cry myself to sleep and others where I don’t think about my Dad.  And when those happen, I feel guilty.  Going thru my Dad’s things has just about done me in.  He still had an ashtray I made him in grade 3.  He had baby pics of my sister and I that were about to decompose in his wallet.  Every card we ever gave him.  WB’s Student of Excellence announcement from the paper, yellowed and worn.

So, to answer your question, I’m ok.  I do believe I am getting better a little bit every day.  I just have to remember to give myself time.  Maybe lots.

Q:        What happened to the eating better and taking care of you?

A:        It’s still there.  I hit the mark maybe 3 or 4 days a week.  Cut me some slack for crying out loud.

Ohhh… I’m sorry. I wish I could kick the stepmonster’s ass for you, along with TELUS, the lame coworker, and anyone else who has messed with you lately. Hang in there. This will pass, you know it will. Do you have time for a walk in the evenings or yoga or just simple meditation?

Enjoy this time with your fabulous boy, who should be renamed Genius Boy.
